Organised by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Alva Myrdal Centre for Nuclear Disarmament at Uppsala University (AMC), in cooperation with the Odesa Center for Nonproliferation (OdCNP), the annual programme brought together 25 early career professionals from 20 countries working in disarmament, nuclear non-proliferation and arms control.
Throughout the week, participants engaged with SIPRI experts and partners in sessions addressing key contemporary security and disarmament issues, including nuclear deterrence, disarmament diplomacy, arms transfers, export controls and artificial intelligence. The programme also included a policy writing workshop and a meeting with the Department for Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Export Control at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Petrucci’s participation provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives with emerging professionals from different regions, strengthen expertise across key areas of arms control and non-proliferation, and build connections within the international disarmament community. The programme reflects the importance of investing in the next generation of practitioners and creating opportunities for continued dialogue and cooperation across the field.
