The conference brought together academics, practitioners, civil society representatives and others working on issues related to nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation, and arms control.
ONN Research Coordinator Nikita Degtyarev, ONN Research Analyst Raymond Gough and ONN Research Analyst Valeriia Hesse took part in the conference, sharing ONN’s perspectives on nuclear risk reduction, disinformation and regional security challenges.
Valeriia Hesse organised and chaired the session “Building CBRN Disinformation Resilience,” which focused on challenges and opportunities for strengthening resilience to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear-related disinformation. Raymond Gough contributed to the session as a speaker and also presented a poster titled “False Signals, Real Threats: Forecasting Disinformation-Driven Nuclear Escalation Risks," which presented findings from an ONN-led 2025 forecasting workshop.
Nikita Degtyarev contributed to the session “From Theoretical Concepts to Policy Implications: Nuclear Justice, Ontological Security, Trust, and Grey Zones,” presenting on “Russia’s Role in Nuclear Risk Reduction on the Korean Peninsula.” His presentation examined the role Russia has played and could play in relation to nuclear risks on the Korean Peninsula, and considered implications for policy, trust-building and regional security.
