This NPT side event examines how radiological and nuclear disinformation impacts trust, crisis communication and decision-making, offering insights to help states respond to challenges across the treaty’s three pillars.

Event Overview

"Radiological & Nuclear Disinformation: Implications for the NPT & Multilateral Nuclear Governance" side event will provide expert insights into how radiological and nuclear disinformation can impact multilateral nuclear governance within the NPT context. It will highlight impacts on trust, crisis communication and informed decision-making, drawing on lessons from chemical and biological domains. These insights aim to support Member States and partners in identifying and responding to disinformation challenges across the NPT’s three pillars. This side event is supported by the Global Partnership Initiative to Counter WMD Disinformation, a multi-institutional effort designed to enhance the detection, analysis, understanding and mitigation of disinformation related to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) weapons.
