Tianran Xu gave comments to NK saying that the DPRK might install cruise missile launch systems on its smaller attack submarines, which have 533 mm tubes designed for torpedoes. Xu said that there is a need for military planners to consider this possibility, as it could complicate preemptive strikes on DPRK's nuclear weapon positions. He also noted that for such modifications, the DPRK would require a new fire control system to ensure correct authorisation for launching and aborting nuclear weapons.
