Yudian (Rainbow) Tao participated in PPNT Boot Camp

Yudian (Rainbow) Tao recently completed the PPNT Boot Camp, where she explored nuclear challenges from both technical and policy angles. The programme fostered cross-disciplinary learning, expert mentorship and a shared commitment to nuclear risk reduction.

Over the past two weeks, ONN Research Assistant Yudian (Rainbow) Tao participated in the Public Policy and Nuclear Threats (PPNT) Boot Camp, hosted by UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC).

This intensive programme gave her the opportunity to explore the technical side of the nuclear world — a valuable complement to her policy-focused work. PPNT is intentionally building a bridge between technical and policy communities, recognising that addressing nuclear issues effectively requires expertise and engagement from both sides.

Rainbow particularly appreciated the chance to break down complex nuclear challenges into focused, digestible topics — from deterrence and arms control to crisis stability and NC3. A key takeaway: the strong and widely shared commitment within this community to the non-use of nuclear weapons. She also had the chance to learn from top experts in the field and connect with a thoughtful, engaged cohort of peers, an experience she will carry forward in her work.
